On May,11 2015 Microsoft along with its partners hosted its first ever Aviation Summit at Microsoft’s Technology Center (MTC) in Singapore. This was for the first time that Microsoft has invited its customers and partners to discuss in detail about the industry trends in Airline and Travel space.

It was a great opportunity to connect with Microsoft’s customers and partners and driving enterprise mobility specific conversations. It was very obvious that all the major aviation industry players are looking at mobility to enable staff productivity, sales as well as operations related scenarios spanning across Digital Cockpit (Electronic Flight Bag – EFB), Crew Management, Cabin Services, In flight Entertainment (IFE), Below the wing, baggage management etc.

I presented on Enterprise Mobility Strategy and during the conversation it became evident that airlines of today require strong enterprise mobility capabilities with an added focus on privacy, security and management. As most of the services are mission critical there is very small (if any at all) room for error.  Additionally, it was very interesting to observe that a common platform is needed to enable these very focused solution scenarios. We were fortunate to have some of the key Microsoft partners (like SITA and Jeppesen) present along with us and share their solutions and services that they built on top of Microsoft platform (services and devices).

All in all it was a great event that enables us to drive very useful and impactful conversations with our customers and partners.
